Trump ends Obama’s 12-year run as America’s most admired man: Poll

Americans are more likely to name President Trump as the most admired man of the year, which ends former President Barack Obama’s 12-year run holding the title.

According to a Gallup poll, 18% of respondents named Trump as the most admired man, while 15% said Obama deserved the title.

Obama had held the title for 12 years, which ties him with President Dwight Eisenhower for the most-ever wins.

“Forty-eight percent of Republicans name Trump this year, with no other public figure receiving more than 2% of Republicans’ votes,” Gallup said. “Obama is the top choice among Democrats, at 32%, but that is down from 41% last year. President-elect Joe Biden (13%) is also commonly named by Democrats.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci pulled in 3% of respondents saying he deserves the title, while 2% of respondents said Pope Francis should receive the honor.

The top 10 men named include Elon Musk, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, LeBron James, and the Dalai Lama.

Former first lady Michelle Obama received the most responses for being the most admired woman.

The poll was conducted between Dec. 1-17 with 1,018 adults aged 18 and older.
