Donald Trump is planning to deliver another major policy speech in New Hampshire on Thursday, this time focusing on an issue he’s made central to his campaign: trade.
New Hampshire’s WMUR reported Wednesday afternoon that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will return to the Granite State for a “major trade speech” shortly before Fourth of July weekend.
Trump’s public travel schedule does not currently contain any scheduled events on Thursday, nor has he formally announced plans to travel to New Hampshire after his rally this evening in Maine. A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign could not be reached for comment.
The report comes 24 hours after Trump delivered an economic policy speech on Tuesday in the battleground state of Pennsylvania that largely focused on trade. His harsh criticisms of trade deals (and threats to tear them up) has put him at odds with free-trade conservatives, but it is playing a central role in his strategy of winning over working-class voters who see themselves as victims of trade.
In an effort to professionalize his campaign, the candidate has recently promised to elucidate his views on immigration, national security, trade and other hot-button issues.
