The Supreme Court on Monday rejected Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Kelli Ward’s efforts to block a subpoena by the Jan. 6 committee seeking records from her phone.
Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, two Republican-appointed members of the high court, signaled they would have granted the request from Ward, whose information is being sought by the committee, which believes Ward played an integral part in former President Donald Trump’s efforts to culminate a false slate of electors and use them to disrupt the transfer of presidential power to Joe Biden on Jan. 6, 2021.

Justice Elena Kagan, a Democratic appointee, previously granted Ward temporary relief from the committee’s subpoena on Oct. 26 while awaiting full consideration by the nine-member court.
Ward’s emergency application to the high court followed a rejection by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in which a three-judge panel voted 2-1 to deny Ward’s request.
