Trump, Clinton visit Ground Zero

Both presidential candidates visited Ground Zero in Manhattan on Sunday, the fifteenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton were among a crowd gathered for a ceremony where the names of the victims were read aloud, as they are every year.

Neither candidate gave remarks but Trump was spotted talking to several prominent Republicans, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New York Rep. Peter King. Trump arrived around 8:15 a.m. at the North Pool, according to a report by the New York Post.

Trump’s campaign issued a statement, where he called 9/11 “a day of sadness and remembrance.”

“It is also a day of resolve,” the statement said. “Our solemn duty on behalf of all those who perished that September day 15 years ago, is to work together as one nation to keep all of our people safe from an enemy that seeks nothing less than to destroy our way of life.”

Clinton appeared in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” where she shared memories of visiting the spot right after the attacks as a former New York senator.
