The percentage of Democrats that believe there’s a “crisis” at the southern border has tripled since January, according to a CNN poll released Tuesday.
Seventy percent of Democrats consider the situation at the border to be a crisis, which is slightly lower than the average across political parties of 74%. That number is over three times higher than the same poll from January, in which 23% said the situation at the border then qualified as a crisis.
Comparatively, the percentage of Republicans who believe there’s a crisis is 82%, which is up from 71% in January.
The difference between the 70% of Democrats and 82% of Republicans that believe there is a crisis at the border is in the details. A majority, 54%, of those Democrats classify the treatment of the migrants as a crisis. Conversely, most Republicans, 63%, would identify the crisis with the number of migrants crossing the border.
