[WATCH] Rep. Louis Gohmert lulls fellow member to sleep

The Sandman made an unexpected visit to the U.S. Capitol on Thursday night, sprinkling his magical sand on one lawmaker who drifted off to sleep while presiding over a House session.

Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas) embarked on an hour-long speech on the House floor, discussing the need to repeal Obamacare as the government shutdown heads into a fourth day. About 40 minutes into his speech, though, Rep. George Holding (R-N.C.) was unexpectedly caught taking a bit of cat nap during Gohmert’s speech — and while presiding over the session.

Broadcast on CSPAN, the camera panned from Gohmert to Holding, who appeared slouched in his chair with his head propped on his hand. The North Carolina Republicans’ eyes are closed, though sources close to the incident said Holding was “furloughing his eyelids,” Mediaite reported.

According to The HillGohmert is known for taking the floor toward the end of the day to deliver long “special order” speeches.
