Montgomery County Ride On buses will continue running a modified holiday schedule at the beginning of next week after a bus fire prompted the county to take about 30 buses out of service on Wednesday.
The transit system has been running a modified version of its Veterans Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day schedule on Thursday and Friday because it doesn’t have enough buses for all its routes after pulling all of its fire-prone Champion-model buses. The holiday schedule will continue to be used on Monday and Tuesday, the county said Friday.
The schedule is to return to normal on Wednesday, though spokeswoman Esther Bowring warned riders to be prepared for some “minor delays” throughout next week. By July 30, passengers should not feel anymore delays, she said, because most of the replacement refurbished 1997 Orion V Metro buses will be available for use by then.
