Former neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said Wednesday he would have a role in creating a replacement plan for Obamacare.
Carson told Politico on Wednesday that he intends to help design a plan that is “appealing and easy to understand.”
Carson was once a primary opponent of Trump but has turned into a surrogate since Trump sealed the Republican nomination.
Trump promised to repeal Obamacare as soon as he gets in office, but what he will replace it with is lacking in details. Trump on the campaign trail promised to let insurers sell plans across state lines, boost health savings accounts and convert Medicaid funding to block grants to states.
An earlier effort to get Obamacare repealed through the Senate process called reconciliation, a procedural move that enables a majority vote on budgetary matters, succeeded earlier this year. Republicans have said they can use the same template with a GOP president who will sign the bill.
