How you move is often more important than how much you move.
“Ten crunches are better than 50, if the 50 are done improperly,” said Darryl Waldon, personal trainer and director of operations at Evolutions Body Clinic in Annapolis. “Make sure you receive proper guidance in technique and form so you?re not wasting your time,” he said. Generally, people make the same mistake when doing crunches, Waldon said.
“Most let their abs come away from the body as they [lift their shoulders off the ground] instead of keeping muscles close to the body, contracted. It takes practice, but eventually people pick up the neutral spine position, instead of rolling their hips,” he said. Check online for more information about working your core muscles.
