The same lawyer who represented Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford is also representing one of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s accusers.
Debra Katz, who represented Ford in 2018 after she accused Kavanaugh of a sexual assault when the two were teenagers, will represent Cuomo accuser Charlotte Bennett. Bennett accused Cuomo of making her uncomfortable by discussing her sex life and asked if she was interested in older men. She also alleges Cuomo suggested he would date a woman her age, which she believes was an attempt to groom her.

“Ms. Bennett will cooperate fully with the Attorney General’s investigation,” Katz said in a statement.
“We are confident that no disinterested investigator who reviews this evidence would adopt the Governor’s self-serving characterization of his behavior as mentorship or, at worst, unwanted flirtation,” Katz said. “He was not acting as a mentor and his remarks were not misunderstood by Ms. Bennett. He was abusing his power over her for sex. This is textbook sexual harassment.”
Bennett has also encouraged other Cuomo accusers to come forward.
“To the Governor’s survivors: I am here,” Bennett said. “Lindsey is here. You do not have to say a single word. But if you choose to speak your truth, we will be standing with you. I promise.”
Katz has previously boasted about her time representing Ford, who she said did good by making accusations against Kavanaugh.

“In the aftermath of these hearings, I believe that Christine’s testimony brought about more good than the harm misogynist Republicans caused by allowing Kavanaugh on the court,” Katz said at a conference in April 2019.
A Senate Judiciary Committee investigation eventually determined there was “no evidence” to support the Ford accusations against Kavanaugh.
