Rapper Kanye West said on Saturday that he is running for president.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” West tweeted. He indicated that he would be running in November’s election with the hashtag #2020VISION.

West is a vocal supporter of President Trump and previously said he would wait to run for president until 2024. West and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, met with Trump in the Oval Office to work on criminal justice reform. Some prominent figures have already endorsed West’s presidential bid, including Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

It is not clear how West’s bid would play out if his tweet is genuine. He appears to not have officially filed his candidacy with the Federal Election Commission as of Saturday evening, and several states, including New York, North Carolina, and Texas, have already closed their filing window for an independent candidate to get on the ballot.
