The Daily Caller took down a video on Thursday mocking New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush after receiving intense Internet backlash.
The video, titled, “New York Times’ Glenn Thrush Has KNOUTSPA,” was a short loop of Thrush, who is Jewish, during an interview saying the word “chutzpah” while the Israeli folk song “Hava Nagila” played in the background.

The video was removed from the Daily Caller’s Youtube page after receiving backlash on social media, including accusations of anti-Semitism. Notably, Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, who called for its removal and for its creator to apologize to the reporter.

Betsy Rothstein, Daily Caller reporter who came up with the idea for the video, took to Twitter to explain that she had been in “awe” of his perfect pronunciation of the word “chutzpah” and that she and Thrush have a certain “rapport” and that he would find it funny. Rothstein also said she called Thrush to defend herself to explain the situation.
“It was in no way intended to mock his religion,” she said in one tweet.
“But in my eyes, @GlennThrush will always be the king of ‘chutzpah,’ she said in another.

Thrush didn’t immediately reply to the video, and isn’t expected to tweet about it as he recently swore off Twitter.
