RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service says officials are going to be working with local fire departments in Vermont to set fires to portions of the Green Mountain National Forest as a management tool.
The use of what’s called “prescribed fire” is a management tool to reduce accumulations of brush, to restore wildlife habitat, regenerate some growth and improve the condition of the watershed.
