Former President Donald Trump gave his latest post-White House endorsement to Sen. Tim Scott.
Trump, who reasserted his role as a kingmaker in GOP politics on Sunday during his first public speech since leaving office, announced the endorsement on Tuesday through a press release from Save America, his new PAC.
REVENGE ENDORSEMENTS BEGIN: TRUMP BACKS CHALLENGER TO REPUBLICAN WHO VOTED FOR IMPEACHMENT
“It is my great honor to give Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina my Complete and Total Endorsement,” the former president said. “He is both an outstanding Senator and person who works tirelessly for the people of his great state, and the USA. Strong on the Military, Law Enforcement, loves our Vets, protects our Second Amendment and our Borders.”
“Tim will continue to do an OUTSTANDING job for our country,” Trump added.
Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate, has said he does not expect to run for a third term should he be reelected in 2022. So far, Scott is not expected to face any serious primary challenges in his bid for reelection.
Trump, who was impeached by the House and acquitted by the Senate on charges that he incited an insurrection earlier this year, recently endorsed Max Miller, one of his former White House advisers, who is launching a primary challenge against Ohio Rep. Anthony Gonzalez. Gonzalez, a two-term congressman, was one of 10 House Republicans to vote in favor of impeaching the former president.

Trump has not ruled out running for president for a third time in 2024, although he has dispelled media reports that he is weighing the formation of a new political party. He teased a third run several times during Sunday’s speech.
