Alex Morgan and USWNT spoil tea time for England and Piers Morgan

Alex Morgan and team USA came ready to enjoy some fresh tea in England.

During the team’s semifinal match with the Lionesses, the USWNT enjoyed a goal from Morgan at 31 feet, which came after Christen Press’ opening goal at the 10 feet mark.

After Morgan’s score, however, the star forward decided to celebrate both the goal and her 30th birthday by sipping a mock cup of tea, marking her sixth World Cup goal.

The team would go on to win the game over England 2-1 after a crucial penalty save in the 84th minute by goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher.

The moment that went viral on Tuesday was Morgan’s tea-sipping celebration.

One of the most notable reactions came from a string of live-tweets from English broadcaster Piers Morgan.

Not to be outdone, many Alex Morgan supporters were more than prepared to protect her honor, as well as her name.

Morgan responded only by tweeting, “This team is special. Thanks for the bday love. Thanks for the rocking stadium. Thanks for continuing to believe with us. And that’s the tea.”

The USWNT will face the winner of Wednesday’s Sweden vs. Netherlands match in the finals, which is scheduled Sunday at 11 a.m. EST.
