Teammates of former college soccer star Brittany Norwood suspected her of stealing from players’ lockers, a former student said. Former Stony Brook University soccer player Megan Healy told ABC News that teammates warned her to keep valuables locked away because Norwood might try to steal them. But Healy said she could never imagine Norwood to be capable of murder.

Prosecutors, however, said Monday that a confrontation over stolen merchandise from the Lululemon Athletica shop in Bethesda led to the brutal slaying of Jayna Murray. Meanwhile, Murray’s parents told “Good Morning America” that their daughter had never mentioned Norwood.

“There were always people that she would have dinner with and go to movies with, but Brittany’s name was never mentioned,” said Phyllis Murray.

When asked whether he had anything to say to Norwood, father David Murray declined.

“The main message that I would send is that we believe very, very strongly in the U.S. justice system, and we are going to let the justice system prevail,” David Murray said.
