The Department of Homeland Security says it does not have any information to indicate that American music venues are under threat following a blast that killed 19 and injured 50 at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.
“At this time, we have no information to indicate a specific credible threat involving music venues in the United States,” DHS said in a statement late Monday.
Officials did say the public may experience increased security in and around public places as officials take additional precautions.
The agency is working closely with its British counterparts to obtain further information about the cause of the explosion as well as the extent of injuries and fatalities.Greater Manchester Police said one man conducted the attack, and he was carrying an improvised explosive device. The attacker died on the scene.
“The explosive devices were detonated in the shameless concert arena,” an ISIS statement said. “And what comes next will be more severe on the worshipers of the Cross and their allies.”
