Former Bullet Gus Johnson in latest Hall of Fame class

Hey, a bright spot for the Bullets/Wizards franchise? Haven’t been too many of those this season…

Gus Johnson, a five-time All-Star in nine seasons with the Baltimore Bullets, was named to the Naismith Hall of Fame class of 2010. The two-time All-Defensive team member helped  lead  the  Baltimore  Bullets  to  five playoff appearances in nine seasons,  including  the  1971  NBA  Finals. He played 10 years in the NBA, scored  9,944  points  (17.1  ppg)  and  grabbed 7,379 rebounds (12.7 rpg). Johnson also played for the Phoenix Suns (1972-73) and was a member of the 1973 ABA Champion Indiana Pacers. He died of brain cancer at the age of 48 in 1987.

The rest of the pretty darn sparking class: Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Johnson, Bob Hurley Sr., Jerry Buss, Maciel “Ubiratan” Pereira, Cynthia Cooper, the 1992 USA Basketball “Dream Team”, and the 1960 USA men’s Olympic team.
