President Trump on Friday dismissed this week’s revelation that his former lawyer lied about the duration of talks about Trump’s possible real estate project in Russia, by saying he only “lightly” looked at the project and that it never went forward.
“Oh, I get it! I am a very good developer, happily living my life, when I see our Country going in the wrong direction (to put it mildly),” Trump tweeted from Argentina Friday. “Against all odds, I decide to run for President & continue to run my business-very legal & very cool, talked about it on the campaign trail.”
“Lightly looked at doing a building somewhere in Russia. Put up zero money, zero guarantees and didn’t do the project. Witch Hunt!” Trump added.

Trumps’ former lawyer, Michael Cohen, admitted to lying to Congress about how long the talks went on about the possible real estate deal in Russia. Many Democrats pounced on that news as a sign that Trump’s involvement with Russia may be deeper than Trump has acknowledged.
Since its inception, Trump has said special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian collusion with the Trump campaign has been a “witch hunt” that has failed to find any evidence that he colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.
Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Chris Coons, D-Del., proposed a bill that would protect Mueller in the case that the president would ever seek to fire him. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, on Thursday blocked the bill from being passed unanimous consent, stating that he felt it was a breach of separation of powers and therefore unconstitutional.
