Pups over politics: Lara Trump and Georgina Bloomberg to co-lead Mar-a-Lago rescue dog fundraiser

Michael Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina Bloomberg and President Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump are putting rescue dogs above politics at Mar-a-Lago to host a high-dollar fundraiser at the president’s historic Palm Beach estate.

Slated to include a celebrity dog fashion show, the March 14 Wine, Women, and Shoes event for Big Dog Ranch Rescue is expected to draw hundreds of attendees for a ballroom luncheon at the president’s landmark 1924 property.

Donors at the highest tiers, $50,000 and $100,000, will score “Top Dog Table” seats and a photo with the president’s daughter-in-law.

The event is known to bring in a sizable haul: In 2018, 700 supporters raised $1.5 million.

Last year, President Trump dropped in on the event after a round of golf, posing with a rhinestone-encrusted “TRUMP” minaudiere and taking selfies with the well-heeled crowd.

Lara Trump, a longtime animal rights advocate, helped push a state constitutional amendment in 2017 that resulted in nearly two-thirds of Florida voters endorsing a plan to end dog racing by 2020. A fundraiser celebrating the win drew Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz and then-Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Since becoming president, Trump has hosted nearly a dozen fundraisers at Mar-a-Lago, turning the private club into a powerful money-spinning tool for his campaign and the Republican Party.
