Virginia Gov.-elect Glenn Youngkin and state Attorney General-elect Jason Miyares, both Republicans, announced Friday their intention to contest President Joe Biden’s “unconstitutional” vaccine mandates imposed by federal agencies.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused heartbreaking health, societal, and economic loss and suffering throughout the Commonwealth and the United States,” a statement from the pair shared with the Washington Examiner read.
“Our children have experienced severe learning loss and developmental challenges that will last decades, strained and stressed hospital systems are suffering from an historic staffing crisis, and a crippled supply chain has driven up Virginians’ cost of living.”

The Biden administration has stood in the way of efforts by state and local governments to improve and protect the lives of their citizens and has forced “unlawful” vaccine requirements on Virginians, according to the statement.
These mandates have taken paychecks away from hardworking Virginians and ignored long-established hospital procedures, which are in place to keep patients and medical personnel safe, the statement asserted.

“While we believe that the vaccine is a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19, we strongly believe that the Federal government cannot impose its will and restrict the freedoms of Americans and that Virginia is at its best when her people are allowed to make the best decisions for their families or businesses,” the incoming Republicans said.
The message from Youngkin and Miyares concluded with a pledge that change is coming and that Biden’s mandates won’t degrade the freedom of Virginians after they assume office.
“After the January 15th inauguration, the Commonwealth of Virginia will quickly move to protect Virginians’ freedoms and challenge President Biden’s unlawful CMS, OSHA, and Head Start vaccine mandates,” according to the statement.
