Port Authority chief tests positive for coronavirus

The head of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey tested positive for the coronavirus, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.

Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton “is going to be on quarantine. He’ll be working at home,” Cuomo told reporters.

Cotton’s aides will also be tested for the virus and will work remotely while they are quarantined, the governor said.

Cuomo indicated that Cotton could have become infected while he was visiting local airports.

New York state has confirmed more than 140 cases of the coronavirus as of Monday morning. Cuomo declared a state of emergency over the weekend amid a surge in cases.
