McConnell blasts ‘jaw-dropping hypocrisy’ of Democratic response to Biden allegations

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell accused the Democrats of being hypocrites because of their response to allegations of sexual assault against Joe Biden.

“Hypocrisy is not unusual in Washington, but this is jaw-dropping hypocrisy,” McConnell said in a Thursday appearance on The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino. “There was no corroborating evidence in the case against Justice Kavanaugh, and here, you not only have an accuser but corroborating evidence. So, it’s interesting to watch the Democrats engage in, as I said, jaw-dropping hypocrisy, trying to defend the former vice president with less evidence by far that nothing happened than in the Kavanaugh case.”

Tara Reade, 56, a Biden Senate aide in 1993, accused the presumptive 2020 Democratic nominee of inappropriately touching her and also alleged that he penetrated her with his fingers while forcibly kissing her. He has denied all of the allegations.

In the time since Reade came forward, her brother, an unnamed friend, a former neighbor, and a former colleague have corroborated her story, saying they learned about the incidents at the time. Her mother also called into Larry King’s show on CNN, Washington: The Cruelest City on Earth? and referenced an incident without providing details.

Despite the corroborating factors, many Democrats, including those vying for the vice presidential slot, have defended Biden.
