Biden’s ‘experienced’ Cabinet picks are the media’s perfect sedative

When President-elect Joe Biden promised in his campaign to “restore the soul of America,” what he meant was getting CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post, etc., to calm down, to turn down the panic dial, and to resume the normal procedure of obsequiously worshiping a Democratic administration.

So far, Biden has succeeded. The media have become docile little lambs when it comes to covering his transition, most notably with regard to his Cabinet picks.

With each person Biden names to or is expected to name to the various federal agencies, liberal journalists clamor to be the first and loudest in declaring the choices “serious,” “experienced,” and impressive in their “career service.”

The Washington Post’s bureaucracy enthusiast Max Boot described Biden’s coming appointments as “a diverse slate of highly competent appointees with decades of relevant experience.”

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell described in awe how she was told the appointees won’t be “political” (hahaha!) and how Biden expects them to “tell me what I need to know, not what I want to know.” (She presumably meant something closer to, “Tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear,” but she was so caught up in the moment, please go easy.)

ABC’s Martha Raddatz nearly strained her neck ligaments in calling Biden’s appointments “deeply experienced,” “humble,” and “lifelong public servants.” She was sure to say that they “are not political” but, instead, “career people.”

This is, of course, what the media wanted: a bunch of “career” government employees with nothing special going for them other than how remarkably long they’ve remained in Washington.

On the upside, we’re well on our way with restoring “the soul of America.”
