President Obama visited the North American Auto Show in Detroit Wednesday and channelled the movie “Get Shorty” when he praised a Chrysler minivan, before being lured away by a bright yellow Chevy Corvette.
A laughing Obama, beside a new Chrysler Pacifica, said, “Beautiful. You guys remember ‘Get Shorty,’ right? It’s cool driving a minivan.”
In the movie, actor John Travolta praised his Oldsmobile Silhouette as ” the Cadillac of minivans.”
According to the White House press pool report of the 25 minute visit to three displays, Obama then turned to the General Motors exhibit and a Chevrolet electric car before detouring to the Vette.
“That one is juiced up a little more. That looks all right,” POTUS said as he veered toward the Corvette.
