2020 Democrat Tom Steyer concluded the South Carolina leg of his campaign with an amusing dance performance, prompting an online reaction.
While making a final campaign stop in Columbia, Steyer lit up a gym at Allen University, a historically black college, with multicolored lights and danced to the tune Back That Azz Up by rapper Juvenile. Steyer brought the artist with him, along with gospel singer Yolanda Adams, to perform for attendees, but the candidate jumped in to energize his crowd.
“Steyer’d up. Ready to go!” chants were heard in the room, according to BuzzFeed.

Earlier this week, Steyer indicated that he needs to place in the top three in South Carolina in order to maintain his candidacy for president after poor showings in the early voting states so far. He added, “I think I have done best with black people. I have done best with Latinos. I think that, when we get to the diverse Democratic electorate, when we get to the diversity that is America and the Democratic Party, I do a lot better.”
Steyer is ranked third in polls ahead of Saturday’s South Carolina primary.
