A big victory for the Conservatives: they have won Kingswood, a suburban area outside Bristol. In 2005 Labour beat Conservatives here by a 46%-33% margin. This time it went Conservative by a 40%-35% margin. This is the kind of seat where Labour overturned big Conservative margins in 1997; now it seems to be going the other way around. This was the number 135 on the Conservatives’ target list. This seems to undermine the national exit poll and to suggest that Conservatives may be on their way to an absolute majority of seats.
