Clinton camp says to ‘expect’ convention to address terrorism

PHILADELPHIA — Hillary Clinton’s campaign on Tuesday pushed back against Republican charges that the Democratic convention hadn’t yet addressed terrorism or the threat from the Islamic State, saying that viewers should “expect” the issue to come up in the remaining days.

“It’s not just a major threat that’s facing the country, but how America combats terrorism is another example of why you do not want to have somebody as reckless as Trump has been in charge of defending our country, somebody who wants to break down the alliances that are helping us fight terrorism,” Clinton spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri told reporters. “So it’s something you should expect to hear discussed throughout the convention.”

Republicans have hammered Democrats and Clinton for not taking the threat of Islamic terrorism seriously enough, and not identifying the threat as being associated with Islamism.
