Mitt Romney announced today that his campaign has raised $14.2 million in the third quarter, down from his second quarter haul of $18.3 million.

In his 2008 run for president, Romney spent $44.7 million of his own money. He but has not tapped his personal fortune yet in this campaign.

“We are proud of the $32 million we have raised for the campaign so far.” said Finance Chairman Spencer Zwick, “This is just the start of the effort to help fuel Mitt Romney’s message that will defeat President Obama next November.”

Just a start indeed. President Obama raised a combined $70.1 million during the third quarter for his campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
