Roger Stone warns of violence and insurrection ‘on both sides’ if Democrats try to impeach Trump

Roger Stone, a longtime informal adviser to President Trump, warned Thursday that attempting to impeach the president would lead to violence from both Trump’s supporters and detractors.

“Try to impeach him. Just try it,” Stone told TMZ. “You will have a spasm of violence in this country and insurrection like you’ve never seen. No question.”

Stone also warned that both Americans who support Trump and those who oppose him are “heavily armed,” and said any lawmaker who supports impeaching Trump would be putting their lives in danger.

“This is not 1974. The people will not stand for impeachment,” he said. “A politician who votes for it would be endangering their own life. There will be violence on both sides. I’m going to make this clear — I’m not advocating violence, but I’m predicting it.”

When asked about the politicians who want Trump to be removed from office, Stone said they’re sore losers who are upset because Hillary Clinton lost.

“The people who are calling for impeachment are the people who didn’t vote for him They need to get over it. They lost,” he said. “Their candidate had every advantage. She spent $2 billion. He spent $275 million. Sorry, he whipped her ass. It’s over. You lost.”

Democratic lawmakers filed an article of impeachment against Trump last month, and Rep. Steve Cohen said last week he plans to introduce articles of impeachment. The first article was filed over the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and Trump’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey. The second articles of impeachment will be filed in response to the president’s handling of the events in Charlottesville, Va., on Aug. 12.

Dozens of House Democrats also joined together Friday and signed onto a resolution censuring the president for the “moral outrage” he caused by failing to denounce white nationalist groups who protested in Charlottesville.
