“Saturday Night Live” roasted President Trump’s immigration ban in a video “welcoming” travelers to the United States.
The satire of a public service announcement, which shows what is required to enter the U.S., was “recently edited” after Trump’s executive order barring people from seven Muslim-majority countries from passing through the U.S.
“You’ll also need a valid passport from your country of origin —” a woman says.
“— not including Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan or Yemen — and maybe Australia, we’ll see,” a Department of Homeland Security official interrupts.
The official then lists the “extreme vetting” procedures that travelers must endure.
He holds up a “highly detailed questionnaire,” which contains one question: “Are you Muslim?”
The official says Homeland Security will also collect fingerprints and urine and stool samples.
“You will be required to eat a hot dog in front of us,” he adds.
Trump’s executive order, announced in late January, temporarily suspended immigration from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for 90 days. It halted the country’s refugee resettlement program for 120 days and banned Syrian refugees from the U.S. indefinitely.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge James Robart blocked the week-old executive action. A federal appeals court early Sunday denied a Justice Department request to reinstate the ban.
