An arrest has been made in connection to the death of a 21-year-old University of Mississippi student whose body was found shot eight times by police on Saturday.
WLBT in Jackson, Miss., reported that 22-year-old Brandon Theesfeld was booked into Lafayette County Jail Monday afternoon, citing law enforcement sources.
The word “invest” was written next to Theesfeld’s name in the charges column on the jail docket. He will appear before a circuit court judge Tuesday for his initial appearance.

The Oxford Eagle, an area newspaper, reported that “hold” was originally written on the charge line but was crossed out and changed to “murder” Tuesday morning.
Alexandria “Ally” Kostial, a St. Louis native, was found shot to death Saturday morning by police on a routine patrol of Sardis Lake, which is about 20 miles from the Ole Miss campus.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department is keeping a tight lid on the investigation and has released few details about Kostial’s death. Authorities have said “it is apparent that foul play was involved.”
Kostial was last seen stopping at the entrance to a bar on the Oxford square Friday night, but she did not go inside and walked out of the camera’s view, video records show. Authorities said Kostial went back home around midnight but left again at some point. Her roommates did not hear her leave.
Kostial was a marketing major who was expected to graduate from Ole Miss in 2020. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.
Her father, Keith Kostial, posted on Facebook Sunday that authorities informed him of his daughter’s death Saturday afternoon.
“Yesterday, Saturday afternoon, we were visited by the Sunset Hills MO Police who communicated to us that our beautiful dear Alexandria (Ally) Kostial was the victim of a homicide,” Kostial’s father wrote. “As of now, it is believed the crime happened in Lafayette County, MS.”
