Elizabeth Warren: ‘Yes,’ male senators treat me differently because I’m a woman

Sen. Elizabeth Warren says she’s been treated differently in elected office because she’s a woman.

While campaigning for Democratic Sen. Mark Udall in Colorado, the Massachusetts Democrat answered with a resounding “yes” when asked on CNN if male senators have treated her differently because of her gender.

When asked to elaborate, Warren replied “Nope” twice, but did oblige that she didn’t find her treatment surprising.

“It’s hard to change these big, male-dominated institutions. What I am very happy about is that there are now enough women in the United States Senate to bring change to that place, and I think that’s just powerfully important,” Warren said, referring to the 20 women now in the Senate.

“You know, others have said it before me. If you don’t have a seat at the table, you’re probably on the menu,” she added.

She refused to elaborate on specifics, saying “I’ve said all I’m going to say.”

Warren, who is rumored to be a 2016 presidential candidate, is polling behind Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden, according to RealClearPolitics.
