NBA international expansion » Isn’t is at least a little inappropriate that the NBA would believe its entitled to expand to Europe or any other country outside of North America? Or that it is considered unthinkable that an NBA-level American player should ply his trade abroad? The world market is a huge reason why soccer is the biggest sport and the World Cup the biggest sporting event on this planet. Foreign leagues, and Americans venturing abroad, should be encouraged for the good of basketball, not the good of the NBA.

The unpatriotic foot in Josh Howard’s mouth » Howard definitely didn’t get it right with the judgment, tone or content of his insulting remarks about the national anthem. He’s also the wrong mouthpiece in nearly every way. But budding political awareness, which should be admired, doesn’t always result in political sensitivity, which shouldn’t be over-emphasized. And cell phone cameras are doomed to destroy civil society
