A gun advocacy group is raising money with a gun-a-week raffle to fight gun control advocate Michael Bloomberg’s new $25 million campaign to bar people from crossing state lines with their weapons.
“Win A New Gun Every Week In May,” cheers the Firearms Policy Coalition, it’s campaign against the former New York mayor’s financial pledge to his Everytown For Gun Safety.
Bloomberg is bidding to stop a congressional move to grant a federal OK to concealed carry reciprocity nationwide.
The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, sponsored by Texas Sen. John Cornyn, would let people who possess concealed carry permits from their home state or who are not prohibited from carrying concealed in their home state to carry in another state that does not prohibit concealed carry.
“We know we can’t match him dollar for dollar, but we can use our money efficiently and combat Bloomberg in battles that are winnable, so long as we show up to the fight. Help us bring the fight to this un-American billionaire and we’ll enter you into a giveaway for a Kahr CW9,” said the coalition, referring to the New York-based arms maker and its gun made in Worcester, Mass.
“We can’t think of a better way to thank you than by giving away the item that Bloomberg would ban in his perfect dystopian world,” the group added.
Concealed carry applications and permits have exploded in the last two years, due in part to domestic terror shootings and the 2016 presidential campaign.
