Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) are besties — so says Biden at least.
The Veep bizarrely devoted a whole episode of his esteemed reality series “Being Biden” to the Republican Senator and their friendship.
In this latest installment, Biden spends the entire time touting his friendship with McCain, his “old friend of 35 years.”
The VP even reminisced about his recent excursion to the McCain Institute in Sedona, Ariz., where the two were spotted giggling during a policy summit — he even has a snapshot to prove it!
“We’re both determined to reestablish the kind of trust between the parties and among Senators and Congressmen that existed all the years we served together,” Biden says during the audio clip. “He’s not only a great hero. He’s an honorable, decent man and he has the courage to vote his conscience. And he’s my friend.”
Biden’s friendship with McCain isn’t exactly one-sided. The Senator also recently showed some love for the Vice President. After Biden claimed McCain would have won the 2008 presidential election had it not been for the economy, McCain quickly brushed it off, but thanked his “close friend” for his kind words.
“I appreciate the fact that my dear friend [Biden] would say something like that,” he said on “Meet the Press” last week.
Maybe this blossoming friendship has something to do with why McCain voted for the Senate universal background check bill.
