Former FBI Director James Comey said Sunday he hoped his highly-anticipated memoir served as an instructive dissection of ethical leadership as he faces a barrage of criticism from President Trump and Republican spokespeople regarding his own tenure as head of the country’s premier law enforcement agency.
“My book is about ethical leadership & draws on stories from my life & lessons I learned from others,” Comey wrote on Twitter.
“3 presidents are in my book: 2 help illustrate the values at the heart of ethical leadership; 1 serves as a counterpoint. I hope folks read the whole thing and find it useful,” he added.

Trump in a string of tweets Sunday repeatedly called for “Slimeball” Comey to be jailed for his handling of classified information and potentially lying to Congress before he was fired by the president in May.
The tweets follow excerpts of Comey’s book, A Higher Loyalty, being printed by news outlets with advance copies.
The Republican National Committee, working with the White House, has also drafted a 1,000-word talking points memo for Trump, his administration, and GOP officials across the country to help the counter and discredit Comey during his press tour.
Comey will give his first interview since his dismissal on Sunday ahead of the memoir’s official release Tuesday.
