Scarborough on Palin: Trump needs to ‘send her home’

MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, said Thursday that Donald Trump’s presidential campaign should part ways with Sarah Palin.

This week Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, endorsed Trump, just as news broke that her Iraq veteran son Track Palin was recently charged with domestic violence.

After the official endorsement, Palin appeared with Trump Wednesday at a campaign rally in Tulsa, Okla., where she suggested her son’s incident was tied to PTSD and placed some blame on President Obama.

“It’s a shame that our military personnel wonder if they are respected anymore,” Palin said. “We need a commander in chief who will respect them and honor them.”

But those comments fell flat with veterans groups, which said Palin shouldn’t try to blame what happened on her son’s status as a veteran. Scarborough and his panel seemed to agree, and Scarborough said Palin has already become a “distraction” to the Trump campaign and accused her of attempting to capitalize on Trump’s candidacy.

“I think actually the Trump campaign needs to send her home,” he said. “And let her take care of her family problems and not make it part of his campaign. … She doesn’t need to be on the campaign trail, she needs to be back with her family. And needs to stop being a distraction to Donald Trump and stop trying to raise money and exploit Donald Trump for money.”
