Mocking the latest Trump-Russia news, such as reports claiming Trump asked former FBI director James Comey to stop investigating former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn, the latest episode of āThe Simpsonsā features a ghost of Richard Nixon.
Released Friday, the ā125 Daysā clip opens ominously with lightning over the White House, only to zoom into the briefing room with chief strategist Steve Bannon, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway, and senior advisor and Trumpās son-in-law Jared Kushner hanging from the ceiling.
It transitions up a flight of stairs with pictures on the side wall depicting Trump touching the orb in Saudi Arabia and his inauguration, to Vice President Mike Pence erasing the word āViceā from the placard on his desk.
The scene then goes to Trumpās bedroom with pictures on the wall such as a Monopoly āGet Out of Jailā card with Trump running and his recent meeting with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov. Trump is upright in bed with books titled āTwo Scoops for Me,ā āHow to Lose Friends and Piss Off Israel,ā and āIām Still Fired,ā authored by former Fox News host Bill OāReilly. With former FBI director James Comey at his bedside, Trump tries to seek amends with him and says, āYou hand over all your notes and Iāll erase the tapesā¦I MEAN, THERE ARE NO TAPES! NO TAPES!ā
Suddenly, a ghost of former president Richard Nixon appears and startles the president. Trump has been compared by critics to the disgraced president who resigned because of the Watergate scandal.
āI came to thank you, Donald,ā the ghost says to Trump in a White House bedroom. āIām moving up. Thanks to you, Iām now the 44th best president. I have just one piece of advice: If you have tapes, burn them!ā
Comey gives Trump a hug and suggests, āStart hanging out with people who are more honest than you.ā
āGreat idea,ā Trump replies. āGet over here, Dick!ā
āMy first hug,ā Nixon says flatteringly as he embraces Trump and Comey.
The clip concludes with the following voiceover: āPaid for by the Committee to Turn the Clock Ahead to 2020 Or Never, Just Not Here.ā
This isnāt the first time the cartoon show has imitated Trump. For example, in 2015, Homer was at Trump Tower and followed Trump down the escalator, and stared at his iconic hair style only to be sucked into it and, back to reality, escorted by security as Trump announces his candidacy for president.
