The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is starting the Georgia runoff election with a $7 million cash infusion for its ground game.
The contest between Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) and Herschel Walker (R) already ranks as the second-most expensive Senate race this midterm cycle and will assuredly experience another deluge of spending after the race went to a runoff.
“We know talking directly to voters through a strong, well-funded ground-game is critical to winning in Georgia, and we’re wasting no time in kick-starting these programs in the runoff,” DSCC Chairman Gary Peters (D-MI) told Politico. “The DSCC is proud to partner with the Warnock campaign to build off their strong field programs and launch an unprecedented organizing effort in the runoff that will ensure we reach every voter we need to win on December 6.”
The money will go toward field operations such as door-knocking and other direct voter contact initiatives. Only voters registered before the general election are eligible to vote in the runoff, meaning both parties need to turn out their bases rather than target new voters.
The runoff, triggered after neither candidate reached 50% of the vote, will occur on Dec. 6. The four-week window was condensed from nine after Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed an election integrity bill into law last March.
Other entities are mobilizing in the runoff, including Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), who restarted his campaign ground network in the final weeks of the general election to help Warnock. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and its partner Women Speak Out PAC announced an investment of $1 million into the runoff and said it would reactivate field operations to boost Walker.

Partisan control of the Senate could come down to Georgia if Republicans flip either Nevada or Arizona, where results are still being tallied. If Democrats get to 50 seats, they will have the majority with Vice President Kamala Harris (D) as the tiebreaking vote, while Republicans need to secure 51 seats.
