D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown shoved a reporter Tuesday morning as a group of journalists tried to question the city’s second-ranking official about a federal investigation into his activities.
As Brown walked from his Wilson Building office to the council’s chambers, WTOP reporter Mark Segraves, Patrick Madden of WAMU and a Washington Examiner journalist asked the chairman whether he had any comment about a report that federal prosecutors have privately outlined their case against him.
Brown refused to answer, and when Segraves persisted, Brown turned and shoved the journalist away. Brown did not touch either of the other journalists in the anteroom outside council chambers.
Segraves said he does not plan to pursue criminal charges against Brown.
Brown’s chief of staff did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
