A man who police say ran an organized theft ring in Prince George’s County has turned himself in, police said in a news release.
Donnell Angelo Norman, 32, of Waldorf, had a warrant out for his arrest in connection with a theft ring that pilfered thousands of dollars worth of clothing, jewelry and other merchandise from a Nordstrom warehouse in Bowie. He turned himself in Thursday and has been remanded to the county’s department of corrections.
On June 18, police said, a loss prevention officer at a warehouse in Bowie saw Norman opening boxes and hiding merchandise. Police said Norman put the items in his car and then returned to the warehouse and kept working.
Police said Norman was stealing items from the warehouse and would sell merchandise from his home “like it was a Nordstrom Counter.”
Norman was arrested on June 19 after, police said, they recovered stolen goods on him, but he was released without having to post bail before police executed a search warrant on his car, cell phone and home. But when police finally did obtain the warrant, they recovered $2,000 of stolen merchandise from his car and $38,000 in jewelry and clothing from his house, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
