Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) endorsed state Sen. Dave Min on Wednesday for her soon-to-be-vacated House seat, calling the California Democrat an “incredibly effective” legislative leader who has fought to hold Wall Street accountable, as well as push for reproductive rights and gun violence prevention.
Porter said Min, a former business law professor at the University of California, Irvine, has “proven that he can win in this area while delivering on a progressive agenda.”
FORMER REP. HARLEY ROUDA LAUNCHES BID TO REPLACE KATIE PORTER
Porter and Min squared off against one another during a 2018 congressional run, which Porter won. Two years later, she endorsed him for his state Senate run.
Min, who announced his current House bid on Wednesday, joins a crowded field that includes former Republican Assemblyman Scott Baugh and former Democratic Rep. Harley Rouda.

After announcing his candidacy, Rouda tweeted, “Orange County deserves leaders that put bipartisanship ahead of brinkmanship, and are focused on delivering results for the hardworking families of our state. I was that leader in Congress, and I’m proud to run to be it again.”
Porter announced last week she would be stepping down from her coveted House seat to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). Porter, a minivan-driving single mother of three, has made national headlines for her tough questioning of CEOs and other titans of industry who have been called to testify before Congress.
“I’m running for the U.S. Senate because Californians deserve a warrior fighting for them in Washington,” Porter said. “In the House, I’ve stood up to leaders of both parties — as both the only Democrat to oppose earmarks and as one of just a dozen Members of Congress to reject lobbyist and corporate PAC money.”

Feinstein has not yet made a decision on whether she will run again but is expected to make an announcement in the next three months.
