CNN’s O’Brien doesn’t mind double ‘Jeopardy’

Wolf Blitzer’s performance on “Celebrity Jeopardy” may have been painful, but that didn’t intimidate CNN colleague and anchor Soledad O’Brien from giving the game show a shot.

O’Brien played against basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and performer Michael McKean to win money for her and her husband’s charity, the Soledad O’Brien and Brad Raymond Family Foundation.

“I’ll tell you this, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is ridiculously smart, he’s scary smart, Michael McKean is the same way. They are very, very interesting, well-traveled, well-read people,” O’Brien told Yeas & Nays.

O’Brien’s appearance airs Thursday, so we won’t give away who won, but the CNN special correspondent said she was happy with her performance. The hardest part, she said, was getting the timing right.

“I think that really people have no idea how challenging it is to work the buzzer,” she said. “When you’re sitting on your couch, watching TV, you just stand up and say, ‘Yugoslavia,’ on the actual show you have to work the buzzer.”

She’s a fan of “Jeopardy,” with this being her second appearance, and wouldn’t mind going on other game shows too.

” ‘Family Feud’ — honestly my family would be great at that,” she laughed. And her daughter would rock at “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”

“Too bad I have an actual job that I actually need to show up for,” she said.
