Trump: Victims in Portland triple stabbing were ‘standing up to hate and intolerance’

President Trump on Monday condemned the triple stabbing aboard a commuter train in Portland, Ore., on Friday that left two people dead.

Trump, using his @POTUS Twitter account, wrote, “The violent attacks in Portland on Friday are unacceptable. The victims were standing up to hate and intolerance. Our prayers are w/ them.”

The attack began when 35-year old Jeremy Joseph Christian allegedly yelled anti-Muslim slurs at two teenage girls aboard a MAX commuter train. Police say Rick John Best, 53, and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, 23, were fatally stabbed by Christian when they tried to intervene. Micah David-Cole Fletcher, 21, was also stabbed but survived and is still in the hospital.

The FBI is investigating the matter as a possible hate crime.
