Police are asking for the public’s help in catching a short, stocky man who robbed a Cumberland, Md. bank Friday. Armed with a handgun, the man entered the Susquehanna Bank on Industrial Boulevard around 10:45 a.m., poice said. After showing his gun and demanding cash from the teller, he got away on foot and headed towards Wempe Drive along Oldtown Road.
The Cumberland police searched the nearby wooded areas immediately after the incident, with help from local FBI and the Alleghany County Sherriff’s Office.
Maryland State Police also deployed its helicopter and K-9 units in an effort to catch the armed robber, but he remains at large.
Police said that no one was injured during the heist.
The armed robber was described as a heavyset white male, about 5 feet 8 inches and about 180 pounds.
He wore a black hat, a black short-sleeved shirt, blue shorts and glasses.
