Fugitive Casey Phillips caught by US marshals after wild crime spree

U.S. marshals apprehended wanted fugitive Casey Phillips on Thursday after his alleged wild crime spree.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Phillips on Thursday morning at around 11 a.m. in Hubbard, Texas, Fox 44 reported.

Phillips reportedly began shooting at another vehicle while he was driving in Burleson, Itasca Police Lt. William T. Fausnacht said. He then abandoned the car he was driving in Itasca and stole an 18-wheeler sitting on the side of the road.

Phillips then reportedly assaulted and kidnapped a mother and her teenage daughter as they were waiting at a nearby Sonic drive-thru, police said. Phillips allegedly attempted to stab the teenage girl in the chest with a knife, but the blade was caught by the girl’s hand.

Phillips then reportedly decided to kidnap the two, pushed them into the passenger seat of their car, and drove off with them still in the vehicle.

He drove erratically in the parking lot before the mother and daughter jumped from the car. Both were injured but were able to escape the situation.

Phillips wrecked the car east of Itasca, on U.S. 67E, receiving injuries to his legs and head. He was taken to the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center — Hillcrest in Waco but escaped from authorities before police could arrive.
