Dog walker hit by truck dies
A woman has died after she was hit by a truck while walking her dog in Arlington in mid-April.
Arlington County police said 28-year-old Alison Beth Drucker died Wednesday from injuries she suffered in the crash.
She was struck while walking her golden retriever on the 1500 block of North Quincy Street at about 7:30 a.m. on April 11.
Police said 18-year-old Joseph L. Di Filippo is charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle, driving without a license and violation of a learner’s permit.
The dog was also killed.
DEA to collect prescription drugs
The Drug Enforcement Administration will hold a prescription drug take-back day Saturday, so people can drop off unused and unneeded medications at collection sites around the country.
All types of medicines are accepted and no questions will be asked. People are encouraged to black out personal information.
The DEA says the collection program prevents people from abusing drugs found in the homes of family or friends. Many people flush old and unwanted medicine down the toilet or throw them away, which can cause health and environmental hazards.
