Man who stormed Capitol gets six years in prison

A Silver Spring man who stormed the U.S. Capitol with a loaded handgun last year was sentenced Thursday to nearly six years in prison.

Carlos A. Greene, 21, admitted in federal court earlier this year to charges of possession of more than 5 grams of cocaine, felony possession of a firearm and assaultinga police officer. Authorities said Greene crashed a vehicle through a police checkpoint, entered the Capitol through an unguarded entrance and raced down four flights of stairs before he was tackled by a gift shop employee. – Scott McCabe

Man charged with setting his home on fire in dispute

A 45-year-old Temple Hills man was arrested on arson charges Thursday after he doused his home with gasoline and set it ablaze during a domestic dispute, said Prince George’s County fire department spokesman Mark Brady.

Brady said Roxton Sinclair, 45, of the 2200 block of Iverson Street, was charged with first- and second-degree arson, malicious burning and reckless endangerment.

Sinclair got into an argument with a woman in the home at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, and fire officials were alerted to the blaze about 20 minutes later. The man barricaded himself until about 2 a.m. Thursday, when he was arrested, Brady said. The woman was able to escape unharmed. Sinclair was not injured. Damage is estimated at $300,000, Brady said. – Courtney Mabeus

Tree service worker dies

A tree service employee working high in a tree at a retirement community was killed Wednesday after falling from the tree, according to a Loudoun County sheriff’s report.

When the tree fell, Tammy Ray Cave, 37, of Winchester, dropped 50 feet to the ground, and part of the tree landed on top of him, according to the report. He died at a local hospital. – Dan Genz
