Ryder Cup: Wardrobe malfunction for U.S.

Rain Suits? Rain suits?

It’s always something for the U.S. at the Ryder Cup, especially when playing in Europe.

A few holes into Friday’s fourball competition, before a rain delay at saturated Celtic Manor, the U.S. already trails three of four matches, and is blaming its ineffective rain suits.

Meanwhile, Europe’s Rory McIlroy has tweeted, “Just have to say our water proofs are performing well.”

Sounds like U.S. Captain Corey “The Situation” Pavin has some splainin’ to do.

It’s an issue that was raised earlier this week during practice rounds as players grumbled that their Sun Mountain rain gear was not getting the job done. On the first tee on Friday, Tiger Woods shed his jacket to hit his tee shot.

Pavin admitted to ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi that the U.S. has purchased new rain clothes from a merchandise tent.

“We remedied that,” Pavin said.

Can a little Gore-Tex go a long way for the U.S.?
